Airspace consultation reaches halfway point

The ACP is seeking views on proposals to reinstate controlled airspace and introduce arrival and departure routes to bring cargo and passenger aircraft back to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, in what bosses have described as a ‘crucial’ step in the airport’s reopening plans. 

As of w/c 31st August, the consultation had received a total of 1,175 individual responses. In-person consultation events are planned in the comings weeks for Thorne (10th September) and Doncaster City Centre (19th September), with views being gathered until midnight on the 4th October.

Christian Foster, Director of FlyDoncaster Ltd said: “We’re very pleased to have gathered a variety of views around this ACP, helping us to further refine our proposals and seek valuable community feedback on our plans. This is a genuine chance for stakeholders and members of the public to have their say, and we’ve already heard from well over a thousand individuals who have fed back their thoughts.

“Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue to meet with people in-person and online, to talk about this ACP and answer any questions they may have.”

Over the first month of the consultation, in-person events have been held in Bawtry, Worksop and Finningley. The consultation team has also held webinars for the general public and the aviation community.
